Mildred Love Wilkerson (Pelot) died on April 3, 2024, at the age of 95. She was born on January 15, 1929, in Virginia Beach. She was the youngest and last surviving sibling of 7. Known as “Millie” or “Putchie or “Nanny” by so many, she lived her life to the fullest. She shared 34 years of marriage with Charles Pelot, Sr before his passing and another 24 years of marriage with William “Fleet” Wilkerson before his passing. She had a long life filled with love, laughter, and family.
Millie was a family lady every single day of her life. She called almost everyone “doll baby” and always said, “Bless her/his heart.” She loved her two children, Charles Pelot, Jr., and Christine Love Littleton, with all of her heart. She raised her children in the military life, moving to dozens of places all over the country. But each move showed her immense level of grace and poise as she picked up and willingly started “fresh” in a new town.
Millie was a meticulous seamstress, making her own children’s clothes when they went to school and, later, taking her talent and making it into a very profitable hobby. Millie loved to do craft shows where she would sell her gorgeous Barbie doll and American Girl doll clothes.
She was an amazing poker player and attended weekly family poker nights for a huge part of her life. Her jar of “nickels” was always full because she was rather good at poker. But she really loved all types of games. Her grandkids and great-grandkids would love time with their Nanny because there were always games to play and nickels to be won.
Her grandkids, great-grandkids, and great-great-grandchild were the apple of her eye.
Preceded in death by her first loving husband, Charles Pelot, Sr, her second loving husband William “Fleet” Wilkerson, her son, Charles Pelot, Jr., her son-in-law, Wayne Littleton, her granddaughter-in-law, Dawn Littleton, her six Gilbert siblings, and numerous other beloved family members.
She leaves behind her daughter Chris Littleton (and Nelson), her granddaughter Stacy Hoover (and Jim), her grandson Brock Littleton (and Heather), her great-grandchildren, Nick, Kenzie, Teagan, and Hayley, her great-great-grandson Dacre, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by her wonderful caregiver/helper, Michaela.
As per her wishes, Mildred will be laid to rest next to her first husband, Charles Pelot, Sr.
